Here is exactly what you can expect when you work with me.
Step One
The Consultation
Everything starts with a conversation. I want to hear about you, your family, your personality, and what these portraits mean to you. This is where we talk about your vision for the session, the look and feel you want to achieve, and the spaces in your home where you imagine displaying your artwork.
We will discuss location options, the best time of day for beautiful light, and I will give you initial wardrobe guidance so you feel confident and excited from day one. This consultation can happen by phone, video call, or in person at my Grover Beach studio.
By the end of this call, you will have a clear picture of how your experience will unfold and feel completely at ease about every detail.
Step Two
Creative Planning
This is where my background as an art director really shines. After our consultation, I put together a personalized styling guide tailored specifically to you. This includes outfit recommendations, color palettes that work beautifully together, accessory suggestions, and tips for hair and makeup.
I also scout locations and plan the creative direction for your session. I think about composition, lighting, backgrounds, and the overall mood we want to create. Nothing is left to chance. Every detail is intentional, and every choice is made with your final artwork in mind.
You will receive your styling guide well before your session date, giving you plenty of time to shop, plan, and feel completely prepared. If you have questions or want to swap something out, I am always available to help.
Step Three
Your Session
This is the fun part, and I promise it will be easier and more enjoyable than you expect. I direct every pose, every angle, and every expression. You do not need to worry about what to do with your hands or where to look. I guide you through everything so you can simply relax, be present, and enjoy the experience.
Sessions typically last one to two hours, depending on the type of experience you have booked. We often incorporate multiple outfit changes and locations to give you a beautiful variety of images. The atmosphere is relaxed, fun, and filled with laughter. My clients often tell me it was the best part of their week.
Whether we are on the beach at golden hour, in a sun-drenched vineyard, or in the comfort of my studio, I create an environment where you feel confident, comfortable, and completely yourself.
Step Four
The Reveal & Design Appointment
About two to three weeks after your session, you will come back to my studio for one of the most exciting parts of the entire experience: your reveal and design appointment. This is where you see your images for the very first time, beautifully edited and displayed on a large screen.
Together, we will curate your favorite images and I will help you design custom wall art layouts, select album spreads, and choose the products that are perfect for your home and your family. I use professional design tools to show you exactly how your artwork will look on your walls before you commit to anything.
This personal, guided approach means you never have to make decisions alone or wonder if you are choosing the right size or layout. I am right there with you, bringing my design expertise to every selection.
Step Five
Delivery & Installation
Your finished artwork is crafted by professional labs that specialize in museum-quality products. Every piece is carefully inspected before it reaches you. When your order arrives, I personally check every item to make sure it meets my standards and yours.
For wall art, I offer professional installation guidance and can even help arrange installation so your artwork is perfectly placed in your home. Custom framing options are available to complement your decor and protect your investment for a lifetime.
Heirloom albums are delivered in beautiful presentation boxes, ready to be treasured and passed down through your family for generations. From the first conversation to the final hanging, every detail is handled with care.
